After the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) reporting a strong placement season and then some Indian Institutes of Management’s (IIM) report of placing all of their outgoing students it is clear that the B- Schools (Including the tier 2 and tier 3) of India is experiencing a very good time during their placement season.

Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow and Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode have
announced that they have completed 100 per cent of their placement process in just five days and the average salary also increased during the placement. This is the case of government institutes. Now, if we look at the top private institutes, the situation is something like, Indian School of Business of Hyderabad and Mohali, International Management Institute of New Delhi, Fore School of Management of New Delhi and S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research, Mumbai of Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan have reported either of completion of their placement process or they are on the edge of completion of their placement process.

Now, if we look at the pay package during the placements the top B-Schools of India have reported an average salary hike of 7 per cent to 15 per cent from the last placement season. If we look at the exact figures it is something like this, the average salary of S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research is Rs.26.36 lakhs per annum, which is 15 per cent higher than the previous placement season, Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode has reported their salary hike of Rs. 3.02 lakhs per annum, which is from Rs.20.06 lakhs per annum in 2019 to Rs. 23.08 lakhs per annum in this placement season, Indian School of Business, Hyderabad has reported that the average salary that their students were offered in this placement season was Rs.26.15 lakhs per annum, Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow has reported that their 443 students have been placed in more than 100 firms and the average salary they have been offered is Rs.24.25 lakhs per annum.

Besides these, the final placement process of Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore and Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta is still due and it will be started in February.

Besides these top B-Schools, the other Indian Institutes of Management and private B-schools like Indian Institute of Management, Indore, Indian Institute of Management, Rohtak, Birla Institute of Management and Technology, Indian Institute of Foreign Trade are also experiencing a good time as they are receiving a good response from their recruiters.

Now, if we look at the figure of which firm made what per cent of placement then it is clear that Strategy and Consulting firms, Banking and Financial firms and Information Technology firms have proved to be the top recruiters. The exact figure of Strategy and Consulting firms taking students of ISB is 22.75 percent while IT firms have made a figure of 15 per cent of placing the students of ISB. In case of Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow, Strategy and Consulting firms have taken 32 per cent students, Operations and IT firms have taken 24 per cent students and Financial firms have taken a total of 19 percent students. In the other B-schools like Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode 29 per cent of students have taken by Strategy and Consulting firms, and in International Management Institute, Delhi, 56 per cent of students have taken by Strategy and Consulting firms and IT firms.
