India currently has nearly 10 lakhs of lawyers but, only 20 percent of them are considered as expert enough to fit the requirements to practice law in the courts. This is the reason why in spite of having this much lawyers there are still a demand of lawyers in the market or it is better to say there is demand of qualified lawyers in the market and this is a great problem of India. The Bar Council of India often express its concern about young lawyers do not joining the Bar. India has 3.3 crores of pending cases in all of its courts and according to a study India has only 19 judges per 10 lakhs of people. This is a great opportunity for the future lawyers as there is a great demand of talented lawyers in the market and also there are many vacancies in the courts for the post of judges, young candidate can grab this golden opportunity to become successful in this career but, they have to be hard working as well as logical thinker. Now, to meet the requirement of skilled lawyers, law schools like, NSLU, NALSAR were established to focus on producing skilled lawyers. However, India has one of the highest litigation rates and because of this sir Ivor Jennings termed the Indian constitution as ‘A Lawyers’ Paradise’. So, the lawyers who are talented enough do not have to worry about their future of income. Also, it seems that the future is going to be very good for lawyers as talks are going on to open gates for the law firms from outside the country to practice legal operation in India. So, law graduates can expect better job opportunities if foreign law firms start their operation in India. LPOs have already started to recruit law graduates for their process dealing in US laws or UK laws. Another benefit is Indian legal education is similar to that of Britain, so, some universities in UK offer to pursue this career for Indian students, and Indian always enjoy working in foreign countries as they get high salary package. A recent trend is going on that students from India pursue law in abroad and after the completion of the curriculum they are getting high salary packages. Some options to study law in foreign countries are,
Harvard Law School
Yale University
Australia National University, etc.
