Earlier, entrepreneurs used to believe that acquiring hands-on experience is sufficient for developing their ventures. But with time, things are changing. The present scenario, practical knowledge is not just enough, so many of them are thinking of going back to school. When one half of the population wants to join B- school to get activated by grasping latest business and financial structures, enhance the connectivity by communicating with fellow entrepreneurs, and to fatten one’s working skills, whereas the other half joins to solve an existing problem. The B- school course has come-up with a wide range of skills that would intensify the perspectives of an entrepreneur which will help them to continue with their business with a variety of innovation. On the other hand, solving a particular issue that the enterprise may be going through is all about consulting. In comparison with previous years, the number of women entrepreneurs is increasing in B-schools
day by day.
Many schools are also providing women entrepreneurship and management contents particularly for them.
According to research, the ventures led by the women entrepreneurs are smaller than that of the men’s in India. One of the reasons for this is not having the required education and freedom to raise their business due to family and societal pressures and also only 6% of VC funds are given to the women entrepreneurs, hence receiving financial support is not easy for them as well. For them, joining management courses will increase their networks from where they can find their service providers or customers. And this networking could provide them with new opportunities to grow. It’s been observed that normally in small towns, not all men are agreeable to work under a women entrepreneur, as a result, they don’t get skillful employees.
IIM Bangalore has provided the women entrepreneurship course over the years and spotted that it is easier for them to recognize employees and co-founders from fellow participants of the team or by holding the connections of the group. Joining management programme helps women to find mentors in one another and also enhance the interaction between them. There is no compulsion of mentorship to be focused on business. Most of the women find it challenging to cope up with the family and society. It has been found that most of the women who have successfully finished our programmes have ended up with a high confidence level due to gaining of new knowledge, new skill sets and networks. This high level of confidence generally transforms into finer company management and expansion.
