Steps to join ISRO

Indian Space Research Organization(ISRO) has started with their registration procedure for the second sitting of its aspiring Young Scientist Programme from 3rd February 2020. This registration process will continue till 24th February 2020. This programme was first launched in 2019. This programme is to awaken the interest of teenagers in space science from the initial stage of their career. It also passes on the knowledge about space science to the school-going youths. It is a two-week residential plan of action where across the country a small class of brilliant students will be selected at specific ISRO centers. Only three candidates will be chosen from each state/UT. Hence, the competitiveness among the students will be more. This scheme has also reservation of five seats for OCI students.

The pupils who have enrolled in 9 th standard passing 8th can apply for this programme. Final selection of candidates will be done based on their scholastic performance along with their performance in co-curricular activities. Schools of remote areas and students participating from there will be provided with extra preference over their urban counterparts.

Selected candidates will be up skilled thoroughly. The training will take place at the specified ISRO centers. It will include space lectures accompanied with speeches given by renowned scientists of the country, followed by lab sessions.This fourteen days session will be held during the summer vacation of the schools that is in May from 11 th to 20 th of the month. The school timetable of the participating students will not get affected at that time of the year.This year the plan of action is centered at four ISROs of the country. Bangalore, Ahmadabad, Thiruvananthapuram and Shillongare the selected centers for this training. The students will be provided with all the food and lodging facilities at the ISRO centers.All these facilities along with the study material of the course will be provided by the space agency. The short listed students will also be benefited with the transportation charges to set feet on the ISRO centers they are close to.
